"Retreat into Compassion: Reflections on Christian Life" is a title you will want take note of and act upon before January.
Borrowing the name and using Henri Nouwen's book, the diocese's Division of Peace and Justice is planning a retreat that will have participants "examin[ing] how compassion is central to our Christian life" AND creating a six-unit study series for use in adult Christian formation classes or as a Lenten study series.
The retreat will be held Jan. 20 and 21, beginning with supper at 6 p.m. (CST) on Friday, Jan. 20. Opening the program will be a "Community Building" sessionw with Joe Grant, a former Catholic missionary and creator of a JustFaith program, "JusticeWalking," and "Engaging Spirituality." He and the retreat participants will explore their call to compassion and how compassion is central to Christian life. The second day will be a daylong workshop, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 4.
