Public invited to events for Presiding Bishop

The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, leader of the Episcopal Church in the U.S. and 15 other countries, will visit the Diocese of Kentucky May 16-18 with several public appearances scheduled to introduce her to Episcopalians in the diocese and the community at large. She is the first woman elected as presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church and the first woman “primate” of a province in the Anglican Communion.

Holocaust commemoration set April 28

The annual Yom HaShoah Holocaust remembrance event sponsored by Jewish Community Federation’s Community Relations Council will be at 7 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Bellarmine
University, Frazier Hall. The program, "Faces of Resistance," will feature preeminent Holocaust educator Dr. Rachel Korazim as guest speaker. Several Holocaust survivors who live in Louisville will
participate, and the program will include music presented by the Christ Church United Methodist Chancel Choir. Students from several local high schools who are studying the Holocaust this year will also be
participating to show their resistance to prejudice and hatred, and to promote tolerance.

Parish adminstrators' day spotlights wellness

Church administrators from across the diocese met at Christ Church Cathedral in Louisville on Tuesday, April 22, for lunch and a program on wellness just for them.
Hosted by the diocesan staff, the annual event is the diocese's way to say thank you to those who work in our congregations.

Diocesan youth director to leave in August

Institution of Advent's new rector

The Rev. Dr. Timothy J. Mitchell was instituted as the 12th rector of the Church of the Advent in Louisville on April 20.
The service of new ministry was celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Edwin F. Gulick Jr., bishop of the Diocese of Kentucky. The preacher was Rev. Dr. L. William Countryman of the Church Divinity School of the Pacific.
