School of Ministry

The School of Ministry is a collaborative approach to the formation of lay ministers and deacons in our diocese. This two-year course of study located at All Saints Center provides those seeking a better understanding of the many ways of doing ministry in the Church and the world a way to discern their gifts and carry out their ministry.

The School of Ministry is supported financially by the Diocese of Kentucky, contributions and tuition. Donations for support of the program may be sent to the diocese.

Curriculum

Content covered in the two programs include: Spirituality, Human Behavior, Hebrew Scripture, New Testament, Church History, Pastoral Care, Community Organization, Asset-Based Community Development, Congregational Development, Ethics, Theology, Outreach, Diakonia, Liturgy, Church System, and Homiletics. Students who have been accepted into the process to become deacons will complete a 5th semester of courses including a unit of Pastoral Theological Education.

During the time between weekend sessions, students will have reading assignments, ministry projects, and papers to write. Access to email and the internet is essential.

Tuition

Tuition for the program is $950 per year (or $475 per semester) and covers housing, meals, and all other materials, except textbooks. Tuition is due by the first weekend of classes of each semester.

Current Academic Calendar

Sessions begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday night and conclude at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. It is the expectation that all students will remain onsite at All Saints Center for the duration of each weekend, and will attend every weekend of the program.
