When electing their deputations for the 2010 diocesan convention, our congregations will be choosing deputies to participate not only in the annual meeting but also the election of a new bishop.
Every congregation should be aware of the important additional role the 2010 convention deputies will play, and each electing body should make sure that all who are elected deputies understand the additional work they will need to do. These duties will include attending one of the “walkabouts,” the question and answer sessions with the nominees that will precede the electing convention. The deputies will also be required to attend both conventions – the annual diocesan convention and the electing convention.
The annual diocesan convention will be held Feb. 26–27 at Grace Church in Paducah. The electing convention is scheduled for June 5, 2010 at Christ Church Cathedral in Louisville. For more information about the work of the Bishop's Search and Transition Committees, visit their Web site, which includes the timeline for electing and consecrating the diocese's eighth bishop.
