Loading...St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church has invited well known spiritual author and retreat leader Paula Huston to present a series of lectures on forgiveness next month.
The lecture series will begin at 7 p.m. (EST) on Friday, Feb. 18, and continue all-day Saturday, Feb. 19. St. Francis in the Fields is located at 6710 Wolf Pen Branch Road in eastern Jefferson County.
Huston, author of the book Forgiveness: Following Jesus into Radical Loving (Paraclete Press, 2008), will guide participants through the principals of forgiveness in three two-hour sessions and one one-hour workshop. A continental breakfast and a catered lunch will be served on Saturday.
In addition to leading conferences on forgiveness, the popular author gives talks and conferences on simplicity and prayer and the practice of the virtues, and she leads retreats for contemplative centers and Christian meditation groups throughout the U.S., according to her website. Her other books on spirituality are Signatures of Grace: Catholic Writers on the Sacraments (Dutton 2000); The Holy Way: Practices for a Simple Life (Loyola Press 2003); and By Way of Grace: Moving From Faithfulness to Holiness (Loyola Press 2007). Prior to writing on spirituality, she published an acclaimed first novel, Daughters of the Song (Random House, ). She is also a frequent contributor to The Christian Century and other periodicals.
A National Endowment for the Arts fellow, Huston has served on the National Screening Committee for Fulbright Awards in Creative Writing. She is a Camaldolese Benedictine oblate, and she teaches fiction and creative nonfiction in the GlenOnline writing school and for the Cuesta Writers' Conference in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
The Forgiveness series is presented as part of St. Francis in the Fields annual Conference on Renewal. The event is open to the public, but seats are limited. Make reservations today.
