Loading...Sermon writing got you down? Clergy and seminarians will gain practical tools for improving their preaching March 21-24 during the second National Episcopal Preaching Conference at Kanuga.
The conference features an impressive lineup of presenters, who will focus on the theme "Preaching the Passion and Resurrection."
Speakers include best-selling author and renowned Bible scholar Dr. Marcus Borg; the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Kittredge, New Testament professor at Seminary of the Southwest; Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, New Testament professor at Vanderbilt University; and Dr. Richard Lischer, preaching professor at Duke Divinity School.
"When we agreed to hold the 2011 conference during Lent, the theme really chose itself," said the Rev. Dr. William Brosend, conference coordinator and acting program director for the Episcopal Preaching Foundation.
"Holy Week is a time of intense emotion and deep feeling, and the openness of the congregation to substantive preaching is greater than at any other time in the year. It is a week of tremendous opportunity for the preacher. I knew immediately who I wanted to invite to lead our exploration and discussion because of their extraordinary wisdom on the topics we will consider. This will be an event like no other. I could not be more excited."
