Celtic Pilgrimage to be led by Bowling Green rector

The oldest Celtic cross in the British isles, the majestic Scottish countryside, the grand cathedrals of Scotland and England: all of these sites and more will be included in a pilgrimage to England and Scotland planned for this coming October. This exciting opportunity is planned for October 3-12, 2007 and will be led by one of our priest's, the Rev. Mark Linder, rector of Christ Church, Bowling Green.
This nine-day trip will allow ample time for exploration, reflection and worship as participants walk in the footsteps of the northern saints. The trip will begin in the city of Durham in Northern England. From there, pilgrims will travel to the Church at Ruthwell, which houses the oldest Celtic cross on the British Isles. Pilgrims will spend the weekend at the Montgreenam Mansion Hotel, a stately home complete with a library, bar and expansive private grounds. Then a day trip to Glasgow, one of Europe's most vibrant cities, is planned.

From there, the trip will lead to the island of Iona, considered the cradle of Celtic Christianity. The time in Iona will include a retreat led by David Hope, former archbishop of York whose knowledge of these northern states has been described as "infectious." This retreat, the culmination of the trip, is aimed at replenishing spirits and growing confidence in faith. The final day on the island will include walks along the beautiful pathways throughout the island.

The cost will be about $1,500 and will include accommodations, most breakfasts, some dinners and ferry passes. Participants will be responsible for their airfare.
