(New York, NY) - More than 500 new eBooks from Church Publishing Incorporated (CPI) are newly available as part of the massive launch of the much-anticipated Google eBooks program, which is designed to become the web's largest eBooks collection and reading platform for publishers, retailers, and general readers alike.
CPI's new eBooks collection, which already numbers almost two-thirds of its entire active titles in print, are now available direct from the Google eBookstore, plus from more than 100 retail partners, including participating stores and catalogers of the American Booksellers Association. Additional availability on the CPI website, www.churchpublishing.org, and on the websites of select member stores of the Episcopal Booksellers Association, is expected to occur in 2011.
"We're honored to be among the first group of publishers to partner with Google eBooks extending our fast-growing digital offerings to readers and users throughout the US," said CPI Publisher Davis Perkins. "This mass-volume progression into eBooks is a welcome new development for the church, for us, plus our readers, authors, and retailers."
"Our earlier work with Google's Book Search set the stage for a mass migration of our titles into the Google eBooks program," explained Lorraine Simonello, CPI vice president of production. "And it's truly a ground breaking program. Google eBooks require no specific reading device. Google eBooks are stored on the web and can be read by almost any internet-capable system, be it a computer, smart phone, notebook, iPad, other digital notebooks and netbooks, plus eReaders, including Nook and Sony."
While Google eBooks cannot be read on Kindle, Amazon.com's eReader, approximately 100 CPI titles are already available on Kindle with more being readied each month. "CPI is committed to keeping pace with all new developments and technology that affects our industry and in providing our content in all of the various formats for all platforms and devices being used by our customers," said Simonello.
