Loading...Donations now may be made online as well as by mail for the purchase of a rustic cabin at All Saints' Conference Center to be designated as Bishop Ted Gulick's legacy to his successor.
The idea for the "bishop's cabin" came about when members of the Bishop's Transition Committee began planning for a retirement gift for Bishop Ted Gulick and learned that he preferred to receive a "legacy" gift in lieu something personal for him.
Following his desire, the committee has purchased, on his behalf, a modular cabin for use by the diocese's bishop and his family when they visit All Saints', located on Rough River Lake near Leitchfield.
Among the cabin's features, it will have pre-finished tongue and groove solid wood flooring, solid wood cabinets, window treatments and full-size kitchen appliances, according to the manufacturer's description.
The presentation of the legacy gift will take place on Saturday, July 10, during a special celebration at All Saints' to honor Bishop Gulick, who will retire in September. The celebration, hosted by the transition committee, will begin at noon (CT) with a Eucharist, baptisms and confirmations. A retirement luncheon and presentation of the gift will follow. (Gulick, by the way, celebrated the 17th anniversary of his consecration as bishop on April 17.)
All in the diocese are invited to attend today. In the meantime, all are invited, encouraged indeed, to contribute to his legacy by making a donation toward the purchase cost of the cabin. Our contributions will honor his 16 years of ministry as the diocese's chief pastor and our giving will be a tangible, visible sign that this diocese cares, as Bishop Gulick has cared, about the well-being of its pastors, in this case its next chief pastor.
To make a contribution online, look for the picture of the cabin and the prominently displayed Donate button on the diocese's website. The online form has a link for you to designate that the contribution is for the Bishop's retirement gift.
If you prefer, you may send a check by mail. Checks are to be made out to Trustees and Council with "Bishop's retirement gift" in the memo line and mailed to Betty Blodgett, St. John's Episcopal Church, 1620 W. Main St., Murray, KY 42071.
