Loading...Twenty-one individuals representing seven congregations in the Four Rivers Deanery met Saturday, June 4, 2011, to discuss common mission and to information on outreach ministries.
The ministries discussed included the following programs offered in their churches: Faith in Film and Reading Camp at Grace, Paducah; Christmas in July for the Seamen's Church Institute and the Prayer Shawl Ministry at St. Mary's, Madisonville; the new labyrinth at St. Peter's, Gilbertsville; the Shepherd's Garden (a community garden) and participation in packing bags and distributing food as part of a community food distribution program at Trinity, Fulton. Contributions to a number of ecumenical ministries also were highlighted: financial, in-kind and volunteer support for Calloway County's Need Line; physical location, as well as financial support and volunteers for the community Warming Center; coordination of the Community Thanksgiving Dinner; and the establishment and support of Angels Attic, a thrift shop supporting Angels Clinic, a free clinic for the working poor at St. John's, Murray.
Clergy from the deanery meet bimonthly and the entire deanery meets quarterly. The next planned event is a deanery-wide picnic at the end of the summer. The Very Rev. Candyce Loescher, St. Mary's, Madisonville, is the dean of the Four Rivers Deanery.
