Loading...Urban-Suburban Partnerships, a Louisville-based initiative to link urban and suburban congregations in ministry, will have a four-hour meeting, "Moving from Vision to Mission," on Saturday, May 14.
The meeting will be from 9 a.m. to noon (EDT) at Simmons College of Kentucky, located at 1018 S. 7th Street, Louisville (40203).
Among the participants and an advocate of the program, St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church in Harrods Creek has had a three-year partnership with Cable Baptist Church, a western Louisville congregation. Their relationship has been considered a model within the Urban-Suburban Partnerships program, which is sponsored by Simmons College and the Gheens Foundation.
The Rev. Robin Jennings, St. Francis’s rector, said that partnerships are formed so that the congregations’ “can build on each other’s strengths.” Cable and St. Francis initially paired because of their youth ministries, but their relationship has evolved to include shared family ministries and a prayer ministry involving the churches’ lay leaders.
The May 14 meeting will not only offer participants a chance to reconnect with partners for continued dialogue but it also will offer pastors and ministry staff a short seminar on moving from “an initial partnership vision to a sense of shared mission through your relationship,” according to a program announcement.
