Loading...The Choir of St. Thomas Church, New York City, with John Scott, director of music, will perform at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, Harrods Creek, in eastern Jefferson County in March.
The Saint Thomas choir is considered by major critics both here and abroad to be the outstanding choral ensemble of the Anglican musical tradition in the United States today. The choir of 12 men and 18 boys sings at five weekly principal services of the church, preparing an astounding 400 pieces of sacred music a year. They also offer an annual concert series with orchestra and record annually a selection from their repertory of classical and contemporary works.
The choir makes frequent appearances in concert tours throughout the United States and in Europe. The first American group invited to be the choir-in-residence at King’s College, Cambridge, they have concertized and sung services at Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral and St. John’s Smith Square in London, and have performed at the Aldeburgh and King’s Lynn Festivals in England. They have appeared with the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland, Pittsburgh, American and other symphony orchestras at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.
