Nominations for diocesan offices being sought

Diocesan News & Publications

Nominations are being sought for elections to be held during the 2008 Diocesan Convention. The nominations include nominees for deputies to the 2009 General Convention and their alternates as well as other diocesan offices and board memberships. Deadline to submit nominations is Dec. 12. The letter from the nominations committee chair follows. Links will be found after the letter to download a nomination form and descriptions of the offices open for election and information about the nominees qualifications.

Dear People of the Diocese:

To “work, pray and give for the spread of the kingdom of God” is one of the duties that we assume as Christians (BCP, p. 856). Stewardship is our personal response to God’s generosity in the way we share our time, talents and financial resources.
While it is easy to think of stewardship as something that happens on a congregational level, we need to remember that stewardship must not be limited to our response at the local level. We are also called to share our time, talents and financial resources to further the mission of the church at the diocesan level.

The 180th convention of the Diocese of Kentucky will be Feb. 22-23, 2008 at St. Peter’s Church, Louisville. At this convention, delegates will elect members to a variety of diocesan positions, including our deputies to General Convention, which will meet July 18-27, 2009, in Anaheim, California. As nominating committee chairperson, I ask that every layperson and member of the clergy of our diocese prayerfully consider the time and talents that he/she can offer in support of the work of the Church, and be willing to be nominated for election to one of these positions.

Following is a list of the positions to be filled at the next diocesan convention. The list includes qualifications for the various positions, continuing members and members whose terms will expire this year. The one-page nomination form may also be found below. It is important that the individuals who are nominated have given their permission to be nominated. Nominees will be sent a biographical information sheet, which they will be asked to complete and return. This information will be used in nominee profiles, which will be published in Episcopal News and placed on the diocesan Web site at www.episcopalky.org

Please return completed nomination forms to the diocesan office as soon as possible. All forms must be received by Dec. 12.

Blessings,
The Rev. Ned Morris, Chair, Diocesan Nominating Committee
