Pastoral care and counseling conference set for September

"USE OF THE SELF IN PASTORAL CARE AND COUNSELING" is the theme of the Fall Conference of the Midwest Region of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. Registration is now being taken for the September conference in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The conference, meeting at the Fort Wayne Marriott, will begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, and end at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.

Keynote speaker will be Dr. Pamela Cooper-White, who will facilitate Friday's plenary sessions, "Intersubjectivity and Use of Our Selves in Pastoral Care," and a Saturday workshop entitled "Use of the Self in Pastoral Assessment and Theological Reflection (the Case of 'Linda')." Dr. Cooper-White is professor of pastoral theology at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and the author of four books, including the recently released Many Voices: Theology and Therapy in Relational Perspective (Fortress Press, 2006).

Three additional relevant workshops for both pastoral counselors and pastoral care specialists will be offered on Saturday morning. Pastors and persons working in related healing professions are welcome to attend.
