Loading...Grace Episcopal Church accepted the call from General Convention for Episcopalians and their churches to be good stewards of our world and its resources, and it subsequently applied an environmentally conscious approach to their convention planning, which will generate some immediately useful results, some even promising to be fun.
- Instead of disposable coffee cups, we will use Grace Church's assortment of donated mugs. All paper, glass, aluminum and plastic trash produced during the convention will be recycled through the Greater Paducah Sustainability Project, a volunteer organization of which Grace Church was founding member.
- Instead of purchasing special tote bags for this convention, we asked parishioners to donate bags they had received at other conventions or in business promotions. Our collection is approaching the 200 mark. It's an interesting assortment, including some that may be collectors' items. Each convention-goer will receive a unique bag. There's no chance you'll mistake your bag of convention papers and souvenir gifts for someone else's bag, and we think you'll have fun with the wide variety of logos on these recycled bags. The plastic bags with Visitors' Bureau items are also recyclable.
- If you are staying in a hotel for convention and do not use your complimentary toiletries, we ask that you bring them to Grace Church on Saturday morning. We'll have a basket available to collect these items for distribution the next week to homeless shelters in the region, as well as the closet Grace maintains for folks in need.
