Register now for Acolyte Festival 2008

Registration is now being taken for the 2008 Acolyte Festival, which will be Feb. 2 at Calvary Episcopal Church in Louisville. This will be the second diocese-sponsored festival for acolytes, their directors and parents. Workshops will be available for all age levels (Young, Teens and Adults). For details, read on. You will find the invitation sent to our clergy and acolyte directors as well as links to the event's flyer, registration form and the list of items that participants should bring with them to the festival.

Dear Clergy and Acolyte Directors

On Saturday, February 2, 2008, acolytes of all ages will travel from across the Diocese to converge at Calvary Episcopal Church for our Second Annual Acolyte Festival.  We hope that your parish will be represented and that your acolytes will return home with a new understanding and energy for their work.  

All acolyte directors, acolytes, and parents of acolytes are encouraged to attend.  For chaperoning purposes we suggest a ratio of one adult for every five children or youth.  Workshops will be available by age level: Young, Teens, and Adults.  Adults can also participate in workshops with the youngsters.  

The Festival is designed to encourage youth and adults to meet, mingle, and share knowledge with others from around the Diocese.  They will learn new things, laugh and play together, and enjoy table companionship at lunch.  The day will begin with a Festival Eucharist featuring a grand procession of acolytes.  Each acolyte will attend workshops and participate in several activities.  Lunch will be provided, and donations will be gladly accepted to help defray the cost of the day.  

There will be new workshops this year and a special focus on Acolyte Games.  Games will range from the cerebral, like Acolyte Jeopardy, to the energetic - Vestment Relay, anyone?  Do you have acolyting wisdom to impart?  Please call Jerry Cappel (502-368-1146) to offer to lead a workshop.

In this packet you will find the Registration and Medical Permission Forms and a list of items your acolytes should bring with them.  Please make copies as needed to distribute to your acolytes.  Please turn in all information to the Diocesan office no later than January 22, 2008.
