Loading...The Rev. Meghan Holland, assistant rector at Grace Church in Paducah, appeared on the Paducah television show, "For the Love of Animals," last week. Miss the broadcast? Beginning today (Oct. 19), the videotaped program is being repeated for three weeks and can also be viewed on the internet.
Holland was invited to talk about the Episcopal Network for Animal Welfare with co-hosts Darleen Pigford and Greg Baur. The Network is a resource guide for people who are interested in the welfare of animals.
During the program, she also discusses the Episcopal service of “Blessing of the Animals," an annual observance by various Christian churches that dates back to St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, and she spoke about the role of pastoral care for people who have lost a pet.
“The church believes very strongly that all animals are God’s creatures and that there are many ways to honor them both in life and in death,” said Holland. “The Network and the blessing rites are but two ways of what can be done” she added.
