Loading...The Bishop's Transition Committee has published all the needed details about next week's "walkabouts" with the nominees for the diocese's eighth bishop on their website and in a bulletin insert. They provide not only the reasons ALL Kentucky Episcopalians should go but also information about where and when the walkabouts will meet, where to park and what to expect.
The walkabout, a traditional event in bishop searches, is an opportunity for the members of the Diocese of Kentucky to meet, question and hear from the nominees. The four nominees in our search for the eighth bishop will participate in two walkabout sessions.
The first walkabout will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 215 E. Sixth St., Hopkinsville, on Friday, May 14, beginning at 7 p.m. (CT), and the second will be at Christ Church Cathedral, 421 S. Second St., Louisville, on Saturday, May 15, beginning at 5 p.m. (ET). Directions about parking are available here.
Everyone one is invited to attend a walkabout session, even though the sessions are held chiefly to introduce the nominees to the deputies and clergy participating in the electing convention on Saturday, June 5. At each walkabout session, the nominees will respond to a series of questions that had been submitted in advance to the transition committee from Episcopalians throughout the diocese.
The nominees' second visit to the diocese, this trip also will be an opportunity for them to become more familiar with the diocese and its people as they travel to locations in areas, especially the western region, not previously visited.
