Loading...Haleh Karimi, a member of Independent Muslims of Louisville and founding member of the board of the international organization, Iranians for Peace, will speak at Unity Church in Louisville on Sunday, August 15 on "An Introduction to Islam."
Ms Karimi will speak at the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. (EDT) services and will be available to answer questions after the services. Unity is located at 757 S. Brook St. in downtown Louisville.
Her presentation event is part of a yearlong series of programs introducing the public to the world's great religions under the title, "What if God was One of Us?". The sponsors include Unity Church of Louisville, Interfaith Paths to Peace and the Rainbow Spiritual Education Center. All events are open to the public and free of charge.

On Tuesday, August 17, at 7 p.m., those interested in having a more in-depth conversation about Islam are invited to the Rainbow Spiritual Education Center, 2701 Lindsay Ave. On hand for the 90-minute discussion/question and answer session will be Dr. G. A. Shareef of the the Islamic Cultural Center of Louisville and Dr. Muhammad Babar and other representatives of the Pakistani American Community of Louisville.
One Sunday each month at Unity Church, a representative of one of the world's great religions will take part in Unity's 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. weekly religious service and will make a presentation about the religion. At the service a one-page introduction to the religion will be distributed to all of those present. This sheet will include a brief overview of the religion, its history, key beliefs and practices and major annual holidays. The sheet will also include a list of books and online resources about the religion. The Sunday services will also include music from the religion that is being featured.
Each month on the Tuesday night following the Sunday program, the public is invited to the Rainbow Spiritual Education Center to take part in a 90 minute, in-depth discussion of the religion. The Rainbow Center is located at 2701 Lindsay Ave., Louisville , KY 40206. The Tuesday evening programs will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature one or more representatives of the featured religion.
